The Safe or Sound Advantage

Safe or Sound (SOS) tags are unique in the marketplace and are designed to provide a new level of security for retail outlets. They can be used as a stand alone solution or to supplement an existing tagging system.

SOS overcomes the major problems suffered by retailers using conventional tags. These problems may include:

  1. You are only aware that someone is stealing your goods as they pass out of the shop and into the street. By the time staff arrive at the door the thief is half way down the road and it is too late to do anything about it
  2. Tags can often be shielded by tin foil (or in a bag with a foil liner)
  3. Shop assistants will not tackle a shoplifter where this may be a threat to their personal safety
  4. The need for large and expensive antennas by the door
  5. Having to pay for the installation of a tagging system

SOS puts the alarm where it should be - on the product. Move an item away from the protected area of the shop and the tag will immediately sound an alarm, reasonably quietly at first (giving an opportunity to return it to the correct area) but quickly climbing to 90+ decibels.

No thief wants to carry an item which is sounding a piercing alarm and causing everyone to look at him/her. It's easy to follow the thief - you just follow the sound and the person everyone is stopping to look at. In practice the item will be returned to the correct area immediately or jettisoned very quickly.
