How Safe or Sound Works
When the SOS transmitter is connected to the mains it will begin transmitting over a 10m area - the Safe Zone (larger areas can be protected by creating Safe Zones that overlap). Once an SOS Tag is secured to a product the SOS circuitry will activate. All the time the tags are receiving the transmission they remain passive but the moment they are removed from the transmission area they begin to alarm. In large stores this can prevent items leaving a department or floor. The tag can be set to alarm long before shoplifters reach the store exit. In addition, vulnerable products near to store, department or floor exits can be further protected by using an exit mat which will immediately trigger the SOS alarms as they pass over it.
Stores have a choice. They can set much of the store on one frequency or, because the system can be set to work on over 250 frequencies, neighbouring departments can be individually alarmed and the tags will still sound if they are taken from one department to another.
A major advantage of the SOS Tag is that putting a tagged item in a metallic bag shields it from the transmission signal and immediately cause it to sound its alarm. It is therefore a failsafe system unlike other tagging devices.
Removing the SOS Tag is simplicity itself for a person with authority. First the alarm is disarmed using a remote control, and then it is unlocked with a key. The SOS Tag can then be removed from the product without alarming. If someone without authority tries to remove the tag from the article, it will automatically alarm and then can only be switched off by using the key AND disarming unit.
With SOS there are no installation charges as the only skill required to get the system up and running is the ability to plug the Transmitter into a mains socket and switch it on. Full instructions on activating/deactivating the tags and advice on transmitter placement are provided. We can also offer consultancy upon request.
